2021 Ukrainian 5 Hryvnia Commemorative Coin – Chornobyl Biosphere Reserve (Przewalski’s Horse)

This beautiful official commemorative coin was issued by the National Bank of Ukraine in 2021 to celebrate the remarkable recovery of wildlife within the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve.

The reverse of the coin features the Przewalski’s Horse (Equus ferus przewalskii), a rare and endangered species that now thrives within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The obverse depicts a stylised flower surrounding the radiation symbol, together with some of the many animal species that have returned to the area, symbolising nature’s resilience and renewal.

The coin is presented in its original protective capsule and is in excellent uncirculated condition.
