Canvas and watercolour "Spirits of Resistance"

This dramatic and symbolic painting portrays three anthropomorphic cats standing together in military and traditional Ukrainian-inspired attire beneath the glowing figure of a radiant white cat with outstretched wings. The composition blends themes of protection, sacrifice, spirituality, and national identity into a powerful contemporary allegory.

At the centre stands an armed feline soldier dressed in modern combat gear marked with Ukrainian colours and insignia, flanked by companions representing both military resistance and cultural heritage. One figure wears traditional embroidered clothing, reinforcing the connection between homeland, ancestry, and the defence of identity.

Above them, the luminous winged cat appears almost angelic — a guardian spirit watching over the defenders below. Its glowing blue and gold aura creates a striking contrast against the dark background, giving the scene a mythic, almost sacred atmosphere.

The expressive brushwork and intense palette of electric blues, fiery oranges, deep blacks, and glowing highlights fill the painting with movement and emotional energy. Despite the fantastical animal subjects, the artwork conveys serious themes of unity, resilience, remembrance, and hope during conflict.
