Luhansk Border Guard Detachment — Phoenix Embroidered Patch

This distinctive embroidered patch bears the name of the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment, the formation associated with the Pomsta Brigade. A red phoenix spreads its wings across a dark olive shield, behind a gold-outlined cross, crossed swords and the Ukrainian trident.

Its bold colours and detailed embroidery make it a striking addition to a collection of Ukrainian military insignia.

The Wording

The Ukrainian inscription across the top reads:

“ЛУГАНСЬКИЙ ПРИКОРДОННИЙ ЗАГІН”
“Luhansk Border Guard Detachment”

Around the lower edge are the words:

“СТІЙКІСТЬ” — “Resilience”
“ВІДРОДЖЕННЯ” — “Rebirth”

Together, these words reinforce the phoenix imagery—a symbol of enduring hardship and rising again.

Design & Symbolism

The red phoenix is the centrepiece of the design, with flame-like wings and a long, pointed tail. The Ukrainian trident sits at the centre of the cross, with crossed swords behind it.

Gold and red embroidery stand out against the subdued olive background, while an olive stitched border frames the shield.
