RPG-7-Pattern Tail Stabiliser Assembly — Folding-Fin Collector’s Piece 🇺🇦

🇺🇦 Inert RPG-7-Pattern Tail Stabiliser Assembly — Folding-Fin Collector’s Piece

A distinctive piece of military engineering for the serious collector, this RPG-7-pattern tail stabiliser assembly offers a close look at a component normally hidden within a complete round.

Brought back from Ukraine, it features a perforated central tube, four long folding fins, a smaller rear vane assembly and a circular threaded collar. Machining marks, surface wear and traces of coloured finish give collectors plenty of detail to examine.

Ukraine UK Aid confirms that this piece is completely inert and legal to own. It is offered as a historical collectible and display item.

🔎 What was its purpose?

This assembly formed the tail of the projectile used with an RPG-7-pattern launcher. Its principal role was to help keep the projectile stable during flight—much like the feathers on an arrow.

The four long fins folded closely against the central tube to keep the round compact. After the projectile left the launcher, they opened out into the airflow, helping it remain aligned with its direction of travel and resist tumbling. The smaller rear vanes helped impart rotation. These were passive stabilising features, rather than a guidance system.

The assembly travelled with the projectile as part of the expendable ammunition; it was not a reusable part of the launcher. Technical background: The RPG-7 System Primer.
