Ukraine 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade Cap

This is rather special to me, being one of my personal items collected prior to the full scale invasion. 

At the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford UK, in 2018, I was very lucky to see two SU-27's from Ukraine, Airframes Blue 58 and 71 of the 831st Brigade. Blue 58 stole the show with the most amazing display I have ever seen. This airframe was later shot down on the 10th October 2022 over Shyshaky Poltava Oblast. Blue 71 is still operational.

The 831st are considered an elite squadron still defending the skies of Ukraine today.

In a further twist, on 16th October 2018 a Su-27UB "Blue 70" of 831st crashed near Ulaniv, killing both a Ukrainian and an American observer.

I visited the memorial to this crash site in 2022 during our first car mission.

This cap was purchased from the ground crew attending the Airshow, and has been one of my proudest items in my collection. It was an honour to meet the pilots and ground crew from this Brigade, and who would have known, only a few years later, they would be in actual combat.

Because of the personal connection to this item, I am going to put a silly price on it, it is only right and proper that this should go towards helping Ukraine in their struggle for freedom and survival.

I do hope it goes to a home who will appreciate the history behind this item. Some of these photos are taken from RIAT in 2018 clearly showing both aircraft and also a ground crew wearing the same hat.
