24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar" patch

This patch represents the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar", a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. Originally formed in May 2014 as a volunteer territorial defense battalion, it has since been reorganized into an official assault unit. 

Foundation: Formed in May 2014 by volunteers from the Euromaidan self-defense groups following the outbreak of conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Evolution: It was reorganized several times, serving under the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 53rd Mechanized Brigade before moving to the 5th Assault Brigade in 2022. As of late 2025, it was expanded to regiment size.

Recognition: In October 2023, the battalion was honored by the President of Ukraine with the "For Courage and Bravery" insignia

Patch Components & Meaning

"АЙДАР" (Top Inscription): The name of the battalion, taken from the Aidar River in the Luhansk region where the unit first operated and fought its initial battles.

"ШТУРМОВИЙ БАТАЛЬЙОН" (Center Inscription): Translates to "Assault Battalion,"indicating the unit's specialized combat role.

The Owl: A central symbol commonly associated with the unit's identity and intelligence operations.

"РАБІВ ДО РАЮ НЕ ПУСКАЮТЬ" (Bottom Inscription): A powerful Ukrainian phrase meaning "Slaves are not allowed into paradise".

This slogan is a popular patriotic quote in Ukraine, symbolizing a commitment to freedom and resistance against oppression.

It emphasizes the idea that only those who fight for their liberty are worthy of a "heavenly" reward.

Blue and Yellow Background: These are the national colors of Ukraine, representing the country's flag.
