This patch belongs to the 38th Separate Marine Brigade (38th OBrMP) of the Ukrainian Marine Corps. The brigade is named in honor of Hetman Petro Sahaidachny, a prominent 17th-century Ukrainian Cossack leader.

Brigade History and Role

Formation: The unit was officially formed in February 2023 as part of an expansion of the Ukrainian Naval Infantry.

Service: It has seen active service during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including engagements in the Donetsk region and during the Pokrovsk offensive.

Honors: The brigade has been awarded the honorary distinction "For Courage and Bravery" by the President of Ukraine.

The symbols on the patch represent the unit's heritage and role:

  • Silver Wolf: A central element of the brigade's heraldry, often used in Ukrainian military symbolism to represent strength, vigilance, and tactical skill.
  • Golden Trident (Tryzub): Located at the bottom, this is the national coat of arms of Ukraine, symbolizing sovereignty, the will for freedom, and a connection to the historical traditions of Kievan Rus.
  • Dual-Tone Background: The split teal (or sea-green) and dark blue background signifies the brigade's capability to operate across both land and maritime environments.

While not visible on this specific version, some variations of this patch include the motto "Victoria Amat Fidelis"(Victory Loves the Faithful).
