Worn 54th Separate Mechanised Brigade

This patch was donated to us by Olena during our January 2026 Mission. It will have been donated by a serving member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The patch you are looking at is the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. The unit is named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa. 

Motto: The inscription at the top reads "ПРЕЗ ШАКЛІ МАЄМ ПРАВО", which translates from Ukrainian to "Through Shackles We Have the Right" or "Through Hardships We Have the Right".

Symbols: The central emblem is a stylized letter "L" with a crossbar on top, combined with a crescent moon and a golden star. This specific design is a variation of the Cossack cross.

Location: The 54th Brigade is an active combat unit and has been notably involved in fighting in the Donetsk region, including the city of Bakhmut.
