63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade patch

This is a  worn shoulder sleeve insignia (patch) of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade (63 ОМБр) of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. 

About the 63rd Mechanized Brigade

Founded: Formed in 2017 as part of the Ukrainian Reserve Corps.

Combat History: The brigade has been heavily involved in major operations during the Russian invasion, including:

The liberation of Kherson and the surrounding region in November 2022.

The defense of Bakhmut from late 2022 into early 2023.

As of early 2026, the unit is reported to be operating in the Lyman direction in the Donetsk region.

Honorary Name: It was officially granted the honorary title "Lyman" for its role in defending that sector. 

Patch Symbolism

The design features several elements characteristic of the unit's identity:

Roaring Lion: The central figure is a lion's head, which has earned the brigade the nickname "Steel Lions" (Сталеві Леви).

Unit Motto: The Ukrainian text at the top, "Свободу здобуваємо в бою" (Svobodu zdobuvaiemo v boiu), translates to "We win freedom in battle".

Cross and Bars: The patch includes a traditional cross (upper left) and vertical bars at the bottom, which are part of the brigade's official heraldry.
