71st Jaeger Brigade (also known as the 71st Airmobile Brigade) patch

This patch is from the  71st Jaeger Brigade (also known as the 71st Airmobile Brigade), a unit of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. 

Unit History

Formation: The brigade was formed in 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Combat Operations: It has participated in several major operations, including the Kharkiv offensive in September 2022 and the Battle of Bakhmut.

Current Status: As of 2023, the brigade has been recognized for its role in the southern offensive as part of the "Tavria" operational-strategic group

Symbolism and Design

The insignia features distinct heraldic elements that represent the brigade's role and cultural heritage:

The Simargl: The central figure is a golden winged creature known as a Simargl, an East Slavic deity often depicted as a winged dog. In this context, it is shown holding a sword, symbolizing protection and combat readiness.

The Hunting Horn: Located in the lower green section, the silver hunting horn (or bugle) signifies the unit's "Jaeger" (hunter/light infantry) designation.

Color Scheme: The shield is divided into maroon (representing the Air Assault Forces) and green (representing the Jaeger/forest infantry role).
