82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade patch

The 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade is a specialized unit within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

Formation: It was formed in late December 2022 as part of a significant expansion of the military.

Origin: The unit was primarily composed of veterans from existing elite paratrooper units, specifically the 25th Airborne and 80th Air Assault brigades.

Equipment: The brigade is notable for being outfitted with Western-supplied heavy equipment, including British Challenger 2tanks, German Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and American Stryker armored personnel carriers. 

The patch features a silver eagle (officially described as an armed falcon) on a maroon (red) shield. 

Symbolism: The falcon is a long-standing symbol of courage and military prowess in Ukrainian history, often used as a talisman in battle to represent victory and inspiration.

Uniform Types:

Ceremonial/Dress Uniform: This version typically appears as a red heraldic shield with a silver border.
